We take so much for granted in our charmed, Occidental lives. We don’t even consider the passing of the days. But for this scrap of a sick child, every day he lives is a success of sorts, whether by avoiding the fighting going on in his village, or being able to get to a hospital where there are doctors and nurses to look after him. Even having access to health care at all here is a triumph of sorts.
